getting a report

Reports may be requested in person, or phone during regular business hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office is closed from 12:00 p.m. till 1:00 p.m. for lunch. Call (707) 441-4060.
There are times when a police report may not be released. Your request for a particular report may not be fulfilled if the case is still under investigation or for certain legal reasons. Also, there are certain restrictions on who may obtain a police report. Sometimes the reports contain confidential information that cannot be released to certain individuals.

To help us expedite your request we ask that you submit the following information:
· Eureka Police Department case number
· Date, time, and location of incident
· Type of report (i.e. traffic collision, burglary from vehicle, etc.)
· How you are involved with the report (i.e. owner of burglarized vehicle)
· The reason for the request (i.e. insurance purposes)
· Your daytime phone number

We will call you within 10 business days to pick up your report or direct you to send a check or money order, with a self addressed stamped envelope, if you would rather have it mailed.
Report requests may take 5 to 10 business days to process.
When requesting a report by mail:
In order for us to help you as quickly as possible, we require you to enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your requested information (see list above) and a $5.00 check or money order made payable to City of Eureka.
Cost
Traffic Report: The fee for a traffic collision report is $5.00 for the first five pages and $1.00 for each additional page.
Crime Report: The fee for a crime report is $5.00 for the first five pages and $1.00 for each additional page.
Archived Reports: The fee for an archived report is $10.00 for the first five pages and $1.00 for each additional page.
Subpoenaed Reports (All): $16.00 per hour plus $.10 per page.
