Towed
Vehicle Release
|
- The
following procedures will be followed when releasing a vehicle
that has been towed by the Eureka Police Department.
Before
you arrive at the Eureka Police Department please have all of
the following information.
- A valid vehicle
registration; or deposit of fees from the Dept. of Motor Vehicles;
or the vehicle pink slip. If you have the pink slip and it has
been signed off by the previous owner to you, you must bring in
completed Dept. of Motor Vehicles transaction paperwork with you
A picture identification: consisting of a valid drivers
license, identification card, immigration card, check cashing
card, etc. If you do not have a valid drivers license, you
must have with you at this time a licensed driver.
$40.00 Administrative fee payable by cash, cashiers
check, or money order only during business hours of 8:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m. (closed for lunch from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.) Monday
through Friday. NO PERSONAL CHECKS ACCEPTED.
Procedures for release of 30-day impounded vehicles
Vehicles
impounded for 30 days will be released on the 30th day during
normal business hours. Tow companies will charge you an additional
fee to open after business hours, on weekends, or holidays.
Before you arrive at the Police Department to have a vehicle released
to you, please have ready all of the below listed information.
A valid vehicle registration; or deposit fees from the Dept. of
Motor Vehicles; or the vehicle pink slip. If you have the pink
slip and it has been signed off by the previous owner to you,
you must bring in completed Dept. of Motor Vehicles transaction
paperwork with you.

$100.00 Mandatory Administrative Fee payable by cash, cashiers
check, or money order only during business hours. NO PERSONAL
CHECKS ACCEPTED.
Procedures for Release of Impounded Vehicle
Involved in a Crime
If your vehicle was involved in a crime and impounded for investigative
purposes, you will need to contact the detective handling the
case to see if the vehicle can be released. Call (707) 441-4300
to find out the detectives name and status of the case.
